X / Twitter and freedom of speech

Beatings, murders, graphic violence of every kind, racism, sexism, stabbings, shootings, robbery and pretty much anything you can possibly think of and even things you can’t think of.

That’s the cesspit that Twitter video has become.

Now, I’m all for free speech. The masses will decide what gets shared and what is acceptable. What becomes normal, what is taboo or not. But damn.

I don’t want to change anything about Twitter / X. Since in most cases, it’s the only place you can find the uncensored truth about what’s going on in the world. But I’m just so shocked at how many vile things are happening right now in the world, mostly unreported in the news. It’s honestly so shocking.

Changing the rules about online video or banning accounts on Twitter / X won’t help prevent the crimes taking place. They were happening long before Twitter / X and will still be happening long after too. So I definitely think it’s worth keeping the site in place but I do hope that there is some kind of investigation happening for all of these videos. The people in the videos committing the heinous crimes all need to be found. The people uploading the videos need to be protected. Or else we’ll never know the truth. But that’s not usually how it works. Usually the person uploading the video is viewed as guilty as the person committing the crime.

I watched a video on YouTube yesterday and one of the comments he made was that you type in ‘teen stabbed in [location]’ and you’ll find so many awful videos. It’s sadly true.

What’s wrong with people? I get that sometimes arguments get violent, I’m not even talking about those. I’m talking about the ones where people just decide they’re going to do [awful thing] to the first [enter description of person] they see and that’s it. Horrible crime against an innocent unknown person.

How do we fix this? It’s not isolated to a country or group of people. It’s happening EVERYWHERE! That makes it even more scary.

(I know it’s called X but everyone still kind of knows it as Twitter).
