Well the situation in Nottingham just seems to be getting worse! I almost spat my tea out when I heard this part of a video I was watching on YouTube.

How is the city I live in one of the poorest if not the poorest in the whole country!?

I’ve been around the UK and definitely seen some really poverty stricken areas that’s for sure. I find it hard to understand how Nottingham is so poor. Or at least the city district. When I drive around, I do see that the city centre is old and pretty much decrepit, but in amongst that there are some historical buildings that we need to preserve.

The main thing that I do see is the lack of speed when it comes to government projects. Everywhere you look there are new student accommodation buildings flying up, but the things the local council is responsible for just don’t seem to have the same ‘push’. There are potholes everywhere! Broadmarsh shopping centre! I was still in school when they were planning to redesign that place!

Now, is this lack of speed just to do with the money? Or is it poor planning? I have no idea but it does seem to suggest from this report that it’s not just the planning..

What’s the solution? Anyone? Higher taxes?

Interesting topic.
