Is it ever really too soon for Halloween?
This year we were lucky enough to come across this field of pumpkins and we were allowed to choose one per child to take home. The real fun was picking which one to take!

There were too many to choose from! Some were really ugly, some were too big, too green, too many spots haha!
It was lots of fun though, rummaging between the pumpkins and figuring out which ones were heavy, which ones were hollow (some of them had been eaten by wildlife) and poking the soft ones.
We did come here last year, but it was too late as they were all already squashed and mouldy. This year we’re early!
Which one would you choose?

What kind of pumpkin would you go for if you were getting ready for Halloween? To be honest, after this I’m not even sure we’ll actually bother doing anything on the actual day.
loving it!

There really were many pumpkins to choose from. We had the option to pay for more as well, if we really wanted.. But how much pumpkin can you eat?!

There was a creepy scarecrow to keep us on our toes! Imagine seeing this at the end of your street in the night.. No thanks!

In case you were wondering… There are pumpkins here.

This is what we chose in the end. After all that, we got to the end and there was a sign saying we could only take one ‘small’ pumpkin per child for free. Since there wasn’t much clarity on what ‘small’ was, we just swapped ours for the smallest ones nearby. We did wonder why there were so many abandoned huge ones near the exit.

If you’re in Nottingham over Halloween, you can stop by.

We had a look at some pumpkins in the supermarket and upon reflection, I think we got a good deal at the farm! Ever eaten a white pumpkin? Wonder what they look like when they’re carved!

Now back at home, it was time for the messy part. Carving the pumpkins. Have you ever done it? I think we’ll call this the warm-up.. Maybe, just maybe we’ll have another try closer to Halloween and use bigger pumpkins. We’ll see what Hillary says.

Don’t worry, that knife was promptly tapped out of his hand. He did want to help, but he’ll have to wait until he’s older. Right now he’s a hazard with plastic toys so forget about holding a knife!

How did we do? Not bad for a first try eh? We still need to get a candle in there and try it with the lights off.

I think we did a great job! Ok, Hillary did a great job! But I was close by to offer moral support – and that counts!
Time to light the candles and see what these pumpkins look like. Scary or not?

Not bad, not bad..

Now let’s hit the lights!

Wow they definitely look so much better in the dark! This is so good!
