We’ve travelled a lot but we’ve not had a proper holiday before as a family. This is the first time we’re not visiting family in either China or England.
I was so glad to turn off my computer on Monday afternoon knowing that the next 10 days would be spent relaxing in sunny Zante.
The flight was really not that bad for a budget airline. Does TUI count as a budget airline? Hmm..
No in-flight meals or entertainment but still not a bad flight – there wasn’t really any turbulence until landing time.
TUI gave us 20KG checked luggage and 10KG hand luggage. We only got 20KG for me and Hillary though, would have had to pay more for Oscar and Casey to get checked luggage.
We barely scraped through with that luggage allowance. but I wasn’t gonna pay £78 each way or whatever it was to add another 3KG.

Caught some amazing views on the way!

We’re staying at Hotel Alexander the Great. I had no idea about this hotel apart from this is the place my colleague is staying with his family, more on that later.

As you can probably tell by the quality of the door – it was very basic!

The family room with its 4 beds and balcony in all its glory. I could write a separate post on the room… But so far the service has been great so I’ll save that one for another day.

The pool seems decent enough and there is another Olympic style one at the back which is basically deserted.

And Oscar just wasn’t interested in eating.. more interested in making a heap on a plate.

After dinner we went for a little walk before getting attacked by mosquitoes 🦟 along the way.

And that concludes day 1 of our trip.
Tomorrow we’re hoping to get to the beach. I hear there are sea turtles somewhere so we might go and see them.
