Unfortunately we don’t have a charger at home, so I’ll be relying on Tesla’s Supercharger network for all my charging needs. I know I could get a charger installed at home, but there’s a reason I won’t.
Why not?
Cost!
We don’t have a driveway. If we convert the front garden to a driveway it’ll cost about £5k, plus installing the charger £1k. So we’re looking at £6k just to enjoy the cheap charging on the other side. How many trips to the Supercharger would that take to work out more expensive than home charging after all that upfront expense??
Also – we don’t plan to be at this house for more than a few years, so it just doesn’t make sense at this place.
Superchargers

The supercharging network is amazing! Here in Nottingham there aren’t that many locations, but the ones we have are very accessible. So far I haven’t had to wait in any line.
The pricing is very reasonable and the most I’ve paid from about 30% was £12. I’ll have to wait until I’ve had a couple months of regular use before I can really know how much cheaper it is compared to a petrol car.
